December 5, So, the house was on the foundation and the movers had gone- what now? Well, in our minds we had a timeline, dictated by the quick approach of winter. We wanted to have the house livable, or at least closed up and heated before the snow started to fly. Sure, at the time it was still only July, but there was a lot of work we had to do, like: But we also had to finalize the scope of that work. In the lead up July, and the house arriving, we had come up with a variety of ideas for the renovation work we would like to do: We were paralyzed by the order that we should do things: We decided to repair the walls and paint first; we could always do touch ups later when the windows were replaced.
Until then, we will set up a temporary mud room in the basement. Septic Tank Install We started on the septic tank and trenching the 2nd week of July, again borrowing the backhoe from our neighbor.

History[ edit ] SaskTel was established pursuant to the Telephone Acts as the Department of Railways, Telegraphs and Telephones on June 12, , and through acquisitions of other independent telephone companies quickly became the dominant government-run telephone operator in Saskatchewan. The change was intended to separate the administrative duties for the telephone system from the government’s regulatory duties. It launched with a range of BlackBerry and Nokia handsets, and the promise of iPhone carriage in the future.
The review found that SaskTel’s net income risked “[being] unable to support the level of dividends that have been returned to the province in recent years”, citing the possibility of new or enhanced competition among other companies. The company stated that the meetings were regarding ongoing wholesale agreements between the companies, and were unrelated to privatization. The deployment was part of a pilot program for deploying the service in portions of Saskatchewan’s rural regions.

E-bill On November 14th, Lars Bergren not verified says: I signed up for E-bill a while back and so far it has been a joke. Every month when I go to use it to see what my payment is, my password is no longer valid. Even after I apply for a new password and eventually get to check my account, the amount has not been adjusted to show the last month’s payment. I have tried calling and the Sasktel website and cannot even find out where to get help.
The phone call runs you through all kinds of different options and none of them pertain to this type of problem, and the web site does not even have an option to request help.

Welcome to the 21st century where power grids are controlled by computers so that power consumption demands can be met. Power that is generated by a power company is not generated and full blast and sent down the line. Doesn’t work that way, and has not worked that way for many, many decades. Power companies have to watch power demands and be able to met them, less you, the public, ends up suffering from brown outs, surges or complete power interruption.
In the past, humans would sit and watch. As power demands during the day, night, cold, heat, etc, changed, they would have to change things to met those demands or back off when the demand is not quite so high. Computer systems cost a lot less than a person that needs a salary, benefits, vacation time, sick days, etc. They also can react a LOT more quickly than humans can. They are a lot more efficient and changing things, and help keep power failures down as far as literally wearing out a generator makes for a very expensive repair.
Power companies do not really care what kind of electrical equipment you have, nor do they really care to know when you, and individual is putting a kettle on to boil.

Misguided mega-project Is the name Saskatoon synonymous with crazy yet? Additional staff, operations and maintenance would be extra. Where the devil do these councillors think the money will come from? Do they not know that Saskatoon is currently hurtling toward a half-billion-dollar debt? No one will be surprised that this madness comes to us from a consultant, in this case one Brian Patterson, a partner with a Vancouver firm, Urban Systems, and board member of the Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle Professionals.
Well I know a few, and I would only hope this rich plan would be put to a referendum.

No nuclear reactor plans at Lake Diefenbaker set in stone: The denial came on the day a SaskPower report surfaced naming a site near Elbow as the preferred location. Party Energy and Resources Minister Bill Boyd said in Calgary Tuesday the government would welcome development from the private-sector nuclear company, Bruce Power LP, which has recently expressed interest in Saskatchewan. But Crown Corporations Minister Ken Cheveldayoff said Wednesday the SaskPower document prepared under the NDP was of limited relevance because it was based on the idea of the Crown corporation building and operating a nuclear plant, which the government has ruled out.
But on further examination it’s a very preliminary study and I’m told before a reactor would be contemplated an extensive study would have to be done,” Cheveldayoff told reporters. He said there are numerous other potential sites for a nuclear plant in the province besides those mentioned in the report. The report, which was prepared by Stantec Consulting, looked at potential candidates for a nuclear power plant either around Lake Diefenbaker or near Lac La Roche.
