Friday, August 10, Travel Diary: We visited Santa Barbara a few years back, see that blog post here and we fell in love with the artsy, laid-back vibe of the city. Jesse planned this trip himself and he did such a good job! We stayed at the Kimpton Canary which is right in the heart of downtown. We stayed by the beach on our last visit so it was a nice change of pace to stay downtown.
Everything was extremely walkable which meant we only had to get in our car a couple of times the whole weekend. Summerland Beach Our first stop after checking in was to take the pups to Summerland Beach. We did this the last time we were here and it was the perfect way to watch the sunset, allow the pups to get some energy out, and enjoy some quiet quality family time by the ocean. We actually tried to go to the Arroyo Burro dog beach first, but the parking lot was insanely crowded and it looked like there were a lot of big dogs.
It was almost like we had the whole beach to ourselves! We loved everything about the experience. The ambience, drinks and food were perfection. We will definitely be back. Everything was so delicious.

As we trace the timeline of dating rituals, we can get a better sense of how Americans throughout time understood love and, by extension, the world. With the advent of new technologies cell phones, social media, Tinder, etc. It is important to note that historically many of these mainstream rituals were strictly confined to heterosexual dating. Dating did not yet exist in the modern sense; society instead favored a courtship model which almost entirely consisted of one long, parentally-controlled audition for marriage.
Marriage during this time was less a public declaration of mutual affection and more an essential means of legally exchanging property between families. Courtship was the ritual that would allow the families to evaluate potential matches and determine if the arrangement would be advantageous.

It was the tenth of the California Missions to be founded by the Spanish Franciscans. The Mission fathers began the slow work of converting the native Chumash to Christianity, building a village for them on the Mission grounds. The Chumash laborers built a connection between the canyon creek and the Santa Barbara Mission water system through the use of a dam and an aqueduct.
After the Mexican government secularized the missions in the s, the baptismal, marriage, and burial records of other missions were transferred to Santa Barbara, and now found in the Santa Barbara Mission Archive-Library. C-SPAN has produced a program on the mission and the mission archive-library. The flag of Mexico went up the flagpole at the Presidio, but only for 24 years.
